Fun with wallpaper

Sunday afternoon, my friend Bethany and I tackled the wall paper. I have never worked with wallpaper before, but lucky for me, Bethany had. We worked out a great system and in a few hours had the wall done. Because of the boldness of the wallpaper, I am only using it on the one wall. I am thrilled with the outcome, as this wallpaper was one of the very first things I came across and knew I wanted in my house...even before I knew what house I'd be buying! I love the boldness of the pattern - the black and white gives it a contemporary feel, but yet the damask print feels a little more traditional - and I LOVE the mix of those two styles!

Yay! This view makes me happy! The living room is coming together so well and I'm excited to see it's progression!

Jen and I are FINALLY moved in!!! Woo hoo! My first night in the house was Sunday night, and then Jen made her last move on Monday. I took the Monday off of work to finish some of the moving. We've spent a couple nights in the house now and are loving it! The kitchen is organized, the washer & dryer are in place, and everything else is slowly coming together. I'm featuring Jen's rooms in this post, because my room still needs to be organized a bit!!

Jen's lovely bedroom...

Her fantastic framed photo collage...

And...her beautiful and organized office!!

More pictures to come as the house gets more organized. We've been adding little touches here and there (curtains, etc) and are just making it home :)

I finally started moving my stuff from my parents' house to my house. I took about 3 car loads - and now my room is mostly empty...and my new room now has piles all over the floor :)

The Veggie Garden

My mom planted some vegetables in the side yard a while ago...we've got some tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, and a few other things growing. Over the last few weeks the veggies have really been growing - especially the tomato plants! They've grown a ton! (The tomato plants are in the top left of the pictures. The 2nd pic was taken at night so the colors are a little bit off...)

Back from my break...

I took a week off of work and working on my house, for a little vacation when my best friend came to visit. Now I'm back working on the house! Thankfully, while I was not working on my house, my parents so nicely still kept working on it. My dad finished up the flooring, installed my closet doors, and worked on waterproofing the French Doors. My parents got my fridge and oven in place and started putting tables and other furniture in place. Sunday, my friend (and soon to be roommate, Jen) and I worked on arranging furniture and trying to figure out where things are going to go. Here are a few pics of the progress made in the last week or so...it's finally looking like a home :)

my parents & neighbor rolling my fridge down to my house (one of the benefits of living only 2 blocks away - we didn't have to load it in a truck again - those things are heavy!)

Flooring - Day 4

Night 4 and more progress....we've probably covered half the floor in the living area, although we've got a lot of cuts coming up in the kitchen area, so that will go a bit slower...

^ proof that I do actually do work on the house and don't just take pictures ;)

Flooring - Day 3

The 3rd day of flooring and we're making progress surely but slowly. I should clarify that by "day" I really mean a 2-3 hour window of time. Sunday night we didn't get started till around 7 pm, and Monday and tonight (Tuesday) we only got a couple hours of flooring in after getting home from work. So the progress happens slowly due to the limited amount of time, but there is progress...
